The info in this guide is to help you understand the process of what it's like to be in front of the camera with me.
It's packed with tips and tricks I've collected over the years that will help you feel prepared and ready to make the most of your session.

I completely understand how awkward it can be when you've got a big camera pointed at you. Trust me, I'm the first one to throw a tantrum when I'm not sure where to look or what to do with my hands.
I am happy to guide you a much or as little as you need to feel comfortable. I'll always let you know where to stand to get to best light or if something is lookin' amazing, I'll hype you up.
The best moments happen when you're able to trust that I'll make the magic and you can enjoy the moment with yourself, your partner or your family.

A little important note: It's the Bass Coast, so we gotta talk about the weather. Always prepare to be surprised by the weather.
If it’s cooler than you anticipated when putting together your outfits, please ensure you prepare for this. Unfortunately sessions are sometimes cut short if it's are too cold and uncomfortable.
It’s likely I’ll be watching the weather/wind/tides like a hawk all day. If it’s overcast, we can ABSOLUTELY still do the shoot, some of the best light is overcast light. If it looks like it is going to rain, we can make the call together and reschedule as soon as we're both available.

what do we wear?

GOOD QUESTION.
Wear what you feel amazing in, I want you to feel good, great, amazing. My advice is start with a piece you bloody love, and then coordinate everyone else around you.
Avoid clothing with large brand logos on them, than can be quite distracting!
You’re hopefully familiar with my style of work, I love warm, muted, neutral tones. Browns, blues, oranges, mustards, yellows, dusty pinks, earthy greens, creams or white clothing all look great and will compliment my style of shooting & editing. Feel free to check in with me - I'm always happy to see what you come up with and help wherever I can!

what happens after the session?

It's show time! Your gallery will be delivered online via your own personal gallery - within 4 weeks.
The second I've finalized and uploaded your images, I will be in touch to let you know!

When you get your gallery link, I encourage you to make an event of it! Queue it up on your tv or a large computer screen and gather the whole family around… the first time you see your photos is always the best.
Ensure you download all your images and save them to your own devices.

downloading your files

Downloading your images - the process is simple. Your gallery will allow you to select and download the images straight to your device. Ensure that you save your images and store them on a safe accessible drive - don’t let them just get lost in the thousands of photos on your phone.
You’ll be able to save the high res files (perfect for printing) and also the low res files (perfect for sharing online).

printing & copyrights

Once you’ve got your digital files in hand, you are free to print them when, where, and as often as you wish. If you’re sharing online, I would love to be tagged! It’s such a massive help for my business and I also just love seeing the images shared!

There is a high quality professional printing lab directly linked to your online gallery, this makes it super easy to order or enlarge any of your images. There is nothing better than filling your home or your fridge with beautiful family photos, PRINT YOUR PHOTOS. I also recommend Love JK, Streets Imaging and Fred Snow. Keep in mind, if you choose a cheaper mass-market printing lab, such as Kmart or BIG-W, you may find the images print poorly and the image colours may vary.

Getting kids prepared and excited for a photo session often can take away any nerves or shyness out of the evening. As soon as you book, let them know what we will be doing, tell them they’re going to have their photo taken, and it’s going to be FUN. Make it an adventure!
You don’t have to tell them to “cheeeeeeese” and there's no need to force the smiles at the camera. Being relaxed and affectionate with your children will bring out their personalities.

ALSO bribery is not a crime. If you think your kids need a little extra encouragement during the session then bribes are totally okay! Bring along some snacks, or perhaps even encourage an ice cream date afterwards?!

Feeling not so thrilled about the photoshoot? I promise there won't be any awkward poses or staring at the camera saying "cheese", it'll be fun, just some time to spent with your family and some beautiful pictures for you to look back on for years to come.

It’s fiiiiinally your time to be in some pictures. If you’re the one that’s always taking the photos and forgets to be in them, then congratulations, it's your time to shine!
